SAP Ratings

SAP Rating stands for The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) for energy rating of dwelling. It s is a calculation of a building’s energy efficiency. SAP ratings are range from 1 to 100. 1 is the least efficient rating and 100 represents no heating/hot water cost. With the use of micro-generation and exporting to the national grid, it is in theory possible to achieve a higher SAP Rating than 100.

A Target Emission Rate (TER) of CO2 has to be calculated within the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP).

This will be based on a level 20% lower than a typical dwelling built to the 2002 standards. The actual Dwelling Emission Rate (DER) must be no worse than the TER. The new SAP 2005 incorporates all these calculations.
